English Khutbah Jumat, Seeking Knowledge

 Assalamualaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh,

Praise be to Allah, the Lord of the worlds, who has bestowed upon us countless blessings, including the blessing of Islam and the opportunity to gather here today for the Jumu'ah prayer. May the peace and blessings of Allah be upon our beloved Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), his family, companions, and all those who follow his path until the Day of Judgment.

Dear brothers

Today, I would like to remind us all about the importance of seeking knowledge and applying it in our daily lives. Allah says in the Quran:

"Say, 'Are those who know equal to those who do not know?' Only they will remember [who are] people of understanding." [Quran 39:9]

This verse emphasizes the importance of knowledge and its value in Islam. Islam encourages us to seek knowledge and to use it to better ourselves and our communities. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) also emphasized the importance of seeking knowledge, saying:

طلب العلم فريضة على كل مسلم

"Seeking knowledge is obligatory on every Muslim." [Ibn Majah]

Dear brothers

It is not enough to simply seek knowledge, we must also apply it in our daily lives. We must strive to live our lives according to the teachings of Islam, and use our knowledge to benefit ourselves and others. We must also use our knowledge to contribute to our communities and work towards the betterment of society.

Furthermore, seeking knowledge should not be limited to just Islamic knowledge, but we should also seek knowledge in all fields that can benefit us and our communities. We must strive to be knowledgeable in areas such as science, technology, and medicine, and use that knowledge to improve the world around us.

Dear brothers

As we strive to seek knowledge and apply it in our daily lives, we must also remember to seek knowledge with the intention of pleasing Allah and gaining His reward. We should not seek knowledge for worldly gain or personal glory, but rather seek knowledge as a means of getting closer to Allah and fulfilling our obligations as Muslims.

In conclusion, let us remember the importance of seeking knowledge and applying it in our daily lives. May Allah guide us all to seek knowledge with sincerity and use it to benefit ourselves and our communities. Ameen.

And may the peace and blessings of Allah be upon our Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and his family and companions.

Assalamualaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh.
